Federation
The two Governing Bodies of St Jude's C of E Infant School and St Jude’s C of E Junior School in Englefield Green are proposing to create a single federated Governing Body that would be responsible for both schools. The proposed new federated Governing Body will be called the St Jude’s Church of England Schools Federation and is proposed to come into existence on Monday 20th February 2023.
Federation itself will not change the day-to-day operation, leadership or staffing of the two schools. They will remain as separate infant and junior schools. What does change is the governance structure, with one rather than two Governing Bodies responsible for the two schools.
The Infant School was created in September 2021 with the same vision, values and logo as the Junior School. The two uniforms are also aligned. There is already close collaboration across the two schools.
Federation is therefore a natural continuation of this alignment. It will simplify how the two schools are governed, enabling improved strategic oversight to effectively address the extremely challenging financial environment we all now face.
The attached Federation Proposal sets out the full details. This document, together with the proposed Instrument of Governance can be accessed on the schools’ websites: www.stjudes.surrey.sch.uk and www.stjudesinfant.surrey.sch.uk
This letter marks the start of the prescribed 6-week consultation period which will close on Friday 11th November. Should you wish to respond with any questions or views then please email them to consultation@stjudes.surrey.sch.uk. Responses can also be posted or dropped into the schools as detailed in the Federation Proposal document. Following this consultation period, the Governing Bodies will consider any responses to their proposal and then decide whether to proceed with the proposed Federation. This will be communicated to you shortly afterwards.
Yours sincerely,
Martyn Shapter (Chair of Governors, St Jude’s C of E Infant School)
Xavier Brice (Chair of Governors, St Jude’s C of E Junior School)
